Bridge Explosions not only killed a lot of refugees, but also blocked more refugees from fleeing the North Korean Army. Many of them tried to go across the river anyway, as a result, drowned. On August 3, 1950, a US general and other army officers ordered the destruction of two bridges.
Tucksong-dong Bridge Explosion
On August 3, 1950, 7,000 pounds of explosives blew up a steel-girder bridge, Tucksong-dong Bridge, crowded with women and children, old men, and ox carts with their belongings. Many people also drowned trying to save their lives. Hundreds were killed.
